We all need to read books that have happy endings every now and then. Especially if we generally read more dark, atmospheric books, like myself. I love a tear jerker sometimes, but I also enjoy the occasional book that leaves you with a warm, fuzzy feeling. And I prefer to read this genre around this time of year, to get in the Valentine’s Day mood! These are the best 10 books with happy endings to read in 2024.
Coming from a thriller lover such as myself, who knows, I might convert to reading romance more often. Seriously though, I enjoy an easy-breezy chick-lit book on occasion. I think this category is perfect for those days when you need a little pick-me-up. Hopefully the following books will manage to get you out of a reading slump.
Maybe I will pick up some of these myself, since I’m embarrassed to say I only read one of the novels from this list!
Without further ado, let’s take a look at the best 10 books with happy endings to read in 2024.
The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston
According to Clementine’s late aunt, love is a matter of timing. She might find someone to love again, the only hitch is that he lives seven years in the past. This overworked book publicist hits a snag, but how will she overcome it? Written with humor and wit, this newest novel from the author of The Dead Romantics will succeed in putting a smile on your face.
Check And Mate by Ali Hazelwood
A YA novel from the author of The Love Hypothesis, Check and Mate is a book you can devour in one sitting. You don’t need to be a young adult to enjoy this, any reader can fill a few hours reading this cute, relatable book. It is a novel that touches on a few themes such as grief, family relationships, with adorable coming-of-age vibes. Plus, if you love chess, this one has many mentions of the game.
The True Love Experiment by Christina Lauren
I haven’t read this Christina Lauren book, but I’m familiar with the duo’s writing. All of their books are lighthearted and easy to get into, and this one is no exception. It is the sequel to The Soulmate Equation, where Fizzy made her debut. In this second book, fans of the heroine will find out if she can find love behind the camera. Will she get her happily ever after?
You, With a View by Jessica Joyce
Known for writing relatable, realistic, and character-driven feel-good tales of millennials, You, With a View is Joyce’s latest. This book is filled with all the most popular tropes you can think of: forced proximity, enemies-to-lovers, and sunshine-meets-grumpy. This cute, funny and cozy story will get anyone out of a reading slump, all while offering a very happy ending. If you were looking for an easy to read, adorable story, look no further. I’m convinced that this one will deliver.
Hello Stranger by Katherine Center
If you’re on Instagram, then you know Katherine Center is a very popular author. She seems to write well-loved contemporary romance novels that offer the reader a consistent experience. Her books are uplifting and entertaining and leave the readers with an overall feeling of well-being. This particular novel shows us that we can find things when we least expect. So enjoy her latest, and let me know how you feel about Center’s writing style.
Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez
In true Jimenez style, this novel will enrapture you and entertain you from the very first page. Cute and engaging, it will make you laugh, but you will also grit your teeth in frustration. While the heroine is a tad annoying, the likable doctor that comes into the picture more than makes up for it. The terrible first impression turns into extremely amusing second chances. A great feel-good book for those days when we all need a little pick-me-up.
Happy Place by Emily Henry
Emily Henry’s latest novel promises to offer the reader a happy reading experience. I read a couple of her books last summer, and actually listened to them on audio. She develops her characters with multiple layers to their personalities, so you feel as if you know them in real life.
Harriet and Wynn broke up six months ago, but their friends have no idea. So things get a bit awkward at their annual group getaway. Henry navigates this sticky plot with her usual finesse, and at times she’ll have you in stitches.
Same Time Next Summer by Annabel Monaghan
With summer right around the corner, (I wish!!) Same Time Next Summer is the perfect book to set aside for those warm, long days. Sam returns to Long Island to view wedding venues for her upcoming wedding to her perfect fiance. But while she’s there, Wyatt, the guy who broke her heart fourteen years ago is playing his guitar next door. All her feelings and memories from all these years ago come back. Will she go ahead with her wedding, or will she choose the guy who broke her heart once?
Someone Else’s Shoes by Jojo Moyes
Although I own a couple of her older books, I only watched Moyes’s movies that are based on her first two novels. This is her latest feel-good book that came out in 2023.
This story is filled with mess-ups and mix-ups, but Moyes, through her clever plot, shows us that you can make the most of second chances. Sometimes a little incident can change the rest of your life. Can you put yourself in someone else’s shoes and appreciate what life has to offer you?
The Breakaway by Jennifer Weiner
This is actually the only book I read from this list. It is Weiner’s latest book, which I received as an arc from the publisher.
I love the way the author develops her characters. They have depth, unlike some of the others in this category. That is why I will always pick up a book written by her. Abby is a lovable, endearing character that is positive and has a very healthy way of looking at things. She was one of my favorite female main characters in 2023. And without spoiling anything, she might have gotten a happy ending as well!
Concluding Words
These are 10 books with happy endings you should read in 2024, if you haven’t already. I know I’m picking up at least a couple of those, what about you? If you read any of these, what did you think?
Until next time, keep reading my fellow bookworms, and let me know what you’ve read lately.
