10 Bingeable Popcorn Thrillers

three popcorn thrillers april 24

Whenever I can’t seem to get into a book, I usually pick up a popcorn thriller to cure my reading slump. I find this sub-category of thrillers totally bingeable, that is why I turn to them when nothing else seems to grasp my attention for longer than a New York  minute. So today, I thought I would share 10 bingeable popcorn thrillers with you, in case you need something to entertain you for a little while.

If you’ve been on this platform for a bit, remember that I did a previous article that explained the difference between mystery and thrillers, as well as their respective sub-categories.

If you’re new here, I will link said article here, so you can get up to speed.

Mystery Versus Thriller: The Difference Between the Two Genres Explained

But I’ll resume its meaning briefly, so we can speak the same language.

Popcorn thrillers are highly entertaining and easy to read, and you can usually get through them in a few hours. They are typically fast-paced and contain a few surprising twists.

Now that you are up to speed, let’s see which are the 10 bingeable popcorn thrillers to get started with.

Sometimes I Lie by Alice Feeney

Sometimes I Lie

On Kobo

I read this one a couple of years back, and it’s still one that I can recommend to those looking for a bingeable, quick popcorn thriller. It has major psychological thriller vibes with great character development. While none of the characters are especially likable, the writing is great and the story moves fast. It gets your attention and doesn’t let go until the very end.

The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley

While it wasn’t my favorite Lucy Foley book, it is a typical popcorn thriller that you might enjoy, Especially if you like locked-room mysteries that make you reminiscent of Agatha Christie’s style. The Paris Apartment is a modern day thriller that will keep you guessing until the very end. Plus with an idyllic setting, it is so much more enjoyable! The pretty cover doesn’t hurt to its appeal either!

Everyone Here Is Lying by Shari Lapena

Although the last book I read by the author was a flop for me, I gotta give it to her: she writes gripping popcorn thrillers that catch your attention. This one is her latest, and it is just as outrageous as her previous books. It has plenty of unlikable characters, a good plot, and shocking twists. What more can you want from an entertaining, popcorn thriller?

The Wife Stalker by Liv Constantine

To be honest, I bought this book because of its pretty cover. I know the picture doesn’t do it justice, but trust me, it’s very pretty in real life.

And the content is quite interesting as well. I mean, the title pretty much says it all, doesn’t it? It’s a great popcorn thriller with psychological thriller vibes. A fast read, it is filled with plot twists and a surprising ending. I can’t wait to dig into this one!

All the Pretty Girls by J. T. Ellison

All The Pretty Girls

J.T Ellison is one of my go-to authors when it comes to popcorn thrillers. Her books don’t disappoint. They’re full of action, they contain good character development, plus they hook you in from the first page. And as a side note, you can find it now for $1.99 through my Amazon link!

All the Pretty Girls is one of the author’s older works, and the first in the Taylor Jackson series. If you like plot-heavy books that will keep you guessing until the end, this is as good a book as any to get you started.

Things We Do in the Dark by Jennifer Hillier

I just finished this book a couple of days ago, and it is one of the best popcorn thrillers I have read in a while. Plus it helps that the author is Canadian. Although I’ve never lived in Toronto, I am familiar with some of the references Hillier made throughout the book. The nineties Canadian culture and food made me reminisce of my youthful days. I always enjoy the book so much more when the setting is somewhat familiar.

All in all, I recommend Hillier’s books for when you’re looking for a good popcorn thriller to binge in a couple of days.

First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston

On Kobo

As I previously mentioned in my March reviews, this is a great popcorn thriller that is highly entertaining and totally bingeable.

March 2024 Book Reviews

It is an easy-to-read, propulsive thriller that will get you hooked from the first page. Well narrated, the book offers hours of enjoyable reading. With lots of twists and turns, it will have you guessing until the end.

Bye, Baby by Carola Lovering

Bye, Baby

Bye, Baby

On Kobo

Although I’m planning to read the author’s previous book, Tell Me Lies soon, I read Bye, Baby first. And while it won’t make my top ten books of the year, it is still a good popcorn thriller that is well written.

It contains a good plot, some questionable characters, and an acceptable ending. It is also very contemporary, which I prefer over older thrillers. Bye, Baby contains good character development, which helps you get more involved with the overall story.  You can almost feel for their bad decision making. Yikes!

None of This Is True by Lisa Jewel

I like the way Lisa Jewel weaves a good story, and especially the unreliable narrators that are always at the center of her books. She is one of the best in the category, and None of This Is True will have you guessing until the last page. To me, that is what a good thriller is all about. Although some might find this type of ending unsatisfying, I quite enjoy not knowing for sure whodunit.

It is a fast-paced, propulsive read that is easily bingeable. Great for those of you who love this type of thriller.

Listen For the Lie by Amy Tintera

Listen For The Lie

On Kobo

My latest five star read and one of the most hyped books of the last month or so, Listen For the Lie deserves all the praise it received. You may get tired of hearing everyone rant and rave about this one, but it truly deserves it.

The true crime podcast element is also super interesting, as well as the main character’s super dark and twisted sarcasm which makes you love her even more. Its short chapters and small town vibes add to the book’s appeal. Laughing out loud while reading a thriller was probably a first for me, so draw your own conclusions.

Overall, it is a strong contender for the top five books of the year, so far. Remains to be seen, but Iloved it, so I’d be surprised if it doesn’t end up in the top ten, at the very least.

Concluding Words

This sums up my post about 10 bingeable popcorn thrillers. I know there are a lot more that fit this category, but you can get a great head start with these ones.

Which is your favorite popcorn thriller that I should read next? As always, you are welcome to leave me a comment in the box below.

Until next time, keep reading fellow bookworms.
