For today’s post I decided to switch gears a bit and write about another passion of mine, fashion. I am by no means a fashionista, but I’ve always liked to keep up with the trends.
Whether we are exactly where we want in life or not, we all need a little splurge every now and then.
We all strive to achieve status and a comfortable lifestyle at some point or another. Although not the most important value, feeling accomplished gives us a reason to keep going. When we feel complete, it projects the best version of ourselves to the outside world.
Years ago, I would mindlessly purchase things without giving it much thought. But as I’m getting a bit older, my priorities shifted somewhat.
Some may see purchasing a luxury item as frivolous, but the following purses I will mention are an investment. When I mention an investment, it means that the resale value for those items does not depreciate much with time. In some instances, it even gains in value.
Hard to believe that with the economy being what it is today some luxury brands got even more expensive in the last couple of years.
If you own some of the items we will shortly look at, you might want to wait for the best time to sell them. They might even bring you some extra dough. Not bad for an accessory that may not even be considered a necessity by some.
Let’s see which are the 12 best designer purses that are worth the investment in 2023.
12.Telfar Shopping Bag
One of the newest additions to the handbag platform, the Telfar Shopping bag is very popular with millennials. I know this because my daughter invested in one of these babies last year. Good for her! This bag has great resale value and it is often sold out, so that pretty much tells it all! Even secondhand, you can definitely think about buying one of these bags if you like its style. And another plus, it is a Black Owned business, so more reason to encourage the brand.
Any of the Fendi bags are worth investing in, but the Baguette is one of the brand’s flagship models. It has one of the best resale values on this list, with some even getting more back than what they originally paid for. So if you have your doubts, don’t worry, you will be able to make some money off the bag if you ever tire of it. Instantly recognizable by its logo, the Fendi baguette is a classy, timeless handbag that will uplift any wardrobe.
10.Prada Tessuto Shoulder Bag
Originally introduced in the early 90s, if you scroll through Instagram or Pinterest you will see this bag all over again. With up to a 112% average return value, I would say this bag is definitely worth the investment. One way to know you’re getting the real deal and not a dupe is by the clearly legible logo that is found on the interior pocket. It will always say Prada followed by Milano and Dal 1913 on the inverted triangle logo.
9.Loewe Puzzle Bag
I loved this bag from the moment I saw it while watching one of my favorite YouTubers. It is made out of nine textile pieces, 45 pieces of cloth, and 41 different leather pieces. The Spanish fashion house created this beauty back in 2015, so it’s one of the newest additions. But it became popular almost instantly, with many influencers sporting it on a regular basis. It is a true work of art, and one of my favorites on the list.
8.Chloe Faye Bracelet Crossbody Bag
The Chloe Faye Bracelet crossbody bag is another favorite of mine. Not quite as expensive as others on this list, it still has great resale value. Especially if you take good care of it. The suede handbag is crafted from fine calfskin leather, and it comes in many gorgeous colors. I personally love the grey crossbody that is adorned with gold hardware. A true beauty, you will find it often on many preloved sites such as Shopbop, FashionPhile, or Vestiaire Collective.
7.Gucci Marmont Half-Moon
This curved bag that reminds us of the popular 70’s flagship bag is definitely coming back in style. Half-moon and crescent bags have seen a rise in demand in the last few months, and Gucci’s reissue Marmont Half-Moon is one of the best examples of that. This timeless bag is just as trendy today as it was back when it was first designed. It will add a touch of Hollywood glam to any wardrobe.
6.Saint Laurent Le 5 à 7 Shoulder Bag
This is another example of the curved handbag that will always stay relevant on the fashion platform. It is representative of Parisian elegance with its classic clasp, clean lines, and an under the shoulder fit. It will add a touch of glam to anyone’s wardrobe, whether you opt for the calfskin leather model or any of the limited-edition collectibles. Made in Italy from 100% calfskin leather, the bag is adorned with a monogram plaque and a foldover top with magnetic fastening.
5.Bottega Veneta Sardine
Vogue proclaimed this the ‘IT’ bag last fall. And with good reason. Timeless and classy yet fashionable, this handbag is worthy of an investment. The brand’s intrecciato design is made in Italy from 100% lambskin leather. The bag is adorned with a metallic top handle, which was crafted by talented artisans. Each piece is unique, as the engraved markings and nuances of the material give it a special character.
4.Celine Triomphe Bag
This French luxury fashion house is another brand to consider if you want an investment handbag. Crafted from luxurious calfskin leather and lined with soft inverted lambskin leather, these bags are super glam. They age beautifully, but they do require a bit of care and attention. For example, make sure you keep them in a dry, dark place, preferably in the dust bag it comes in. That will keep it beautiful longer, and you can get back most of the money should you decide to sell it.
3.Louis Vuitton Neverfull
This large shopping bag style handbag is probably the brand’s flagship model. It is one of the most copied bags in the world, with many companies making very good quality dupes. I personally own one, and I must say it’s worth the $40 I spent about 12 years ago. Hopefully one day I can invest into the real one, but I’m very happy with my dupe at the moment. The real Louis Vuitton has many variations to this bag, and it is a very good investment to make, in my opinion. This is the type of bag that will, literally, never go out of style.
2.Chanel Classic Mini Flap
Luxury fashion house Chanel is another example of Parisian chic. The epitome of class, the Classic mini flap handbag was designed in 1955 by the icon Gabrielle Chanel herself. This bag will serve you as an excellent investment, as it is one of those bags that withstands the test of time. Timeless and also very well crafted, the value of these bags has increased by more than 100% in the last couple of years. So, if you have a couple of grand lying around, you should definitely pick one of these up. That’s if you get a chance to, since they’re selling like hotcakes.
1.Hermes Kelly 28
I personally believe this bag is the one that is the most investment-worthy model on this list. Ever since its introduction on the market back from the Grace Kelly days in the 1930s, this bag has seen many wise women’s wardrobe additions. If you can afford this bag, kudos to you, because it is more expensive than most people’s cars. A girl can dream, but it is not in my budget any time soon. Even preloved they are selling for a good amount of money, that’s how sought after they are. But the dupes are pretty decent, so you can always consider them as an alternative.
These are the 12 designer handbags that are worth the investment in 2023. You never know, I might be able to put my money where my mouth is at some point and take the plunge myself! I would love to own any of these bags on this list, even the pre-loved versions! But in the meantime, I can content myself with the dupes I own!
One of these days I might do an article about any of these bags’ dupes if you’re interested. I always like to hear your feedback as long as it’s constructive! Let me know in the comments section if that’s something you would like to read about.
Until next time friends! If you’re still reading interesting books, don’t forget to share your suggestions.
